For those of you who don't know, I want to be an interpreter. This is a fairly recent development, although I started studying German 10 years ago. With 3 1/2 years of high school German and 2 semesters of college level German under my belt, I've decided it's time to take this whole language thing more seriously.
So today (on a whim) I took the German placement test up on campus. I scored 519. That's out of 550. So, yes. That's good. Good enough to let me buy out of taking GERM 2010 this semester with an A on my transcript. Good enough to let me buy out of GERM 2020 next semester with a B on my transcript.
I've been giving some thought to this. If I take the buy-out, I can take an extra gen-ed credit this semester. Or, another upper level German class (I'm already enrolled in GERM 4900...it's a German film class...rad) to work toward my (almost) major.
--OR--
I can stay in 2010, get the refreshment I feel I kinda need, and guarantee that goodness on my GPA. See, my GPA needs to be brought up .38 points so I can declare a major.
On a side note: I really hope I can build a linguistics major...my professor said I might be able to...that would be rad. See, I don't want to be a German interpreter. I want to be versatile. My goal is to be fluent in 5 foreign languages.
Here's hopin'...
That is all.

Ja, naturlich bin ich toll.
Oh, go you on the whole linguistic thing. The only language I speak is latin. As spoken by pigs.
Why would you take 2010 when you already have an A in it? Did you mean 2020? Personally I would go with 2020 (or 2010) because an easy class is usually worth its weight in gold and a language refresher is always good. On a side note how many credits do you have to get for a German minor? Any GPA requirements?
Chris, I haven't taken 2010, but I could buy out of it and have an A on my transcript. But I don't think I want to because I'd like the refresher. You answered your own question...
